Puerto Banús becomes the global stage of the luxury sector this weekend

The event with 45 companies participating aims to address the challenges in this segment of the market

This weekend, Puerto Banús will become the global stage of the luxury sector with the 7th edition of the Marbella Luxury Weekend from June 2-4 where participants will deal with the challenges the market segment is facing with 45 companies attending according to the Tourism Councillor, Javier Porcuna.

During the presentation of the event to the media the city councillor highlighted the fact that the City Council is once again collaborating in the event after it was a private initiative last year. This is something extremely important for Marbella regardless of the government’s political colours in the coming years.

Marbella Luxury Weekend is seen as part of the city’s promotional offer in the run up to the tourist season followed by the “Feria” and the San Bernabé Festival and creates the perfect showcase for Marbella says the councillor.

The Marbella Luxury Weekend promoter and owner of the Gómez & Molina jewellery shop, Miguel Gómez, said that the city is set to become the European epicentre of luxury for these few days. Marbella attracts “26% of sales in the luxury sector putting it above Madrid”, and another important factor is that 98% of companies that return the VAT on purchases to foreign visitors from outside the EU who come to Andalucia is done in the city.

This edition’s program includes a large number of activities with floating fashion shows, musical performances, gastronomy and exclusive presentations. The Marbella Luxury Forum takes place on June 2nd at the Teatro Goya Cinema in Puerto Banús, where the challenges facing the sector will be addressed, and there will also be a golf table to strengthen and promote this segment.

Among the new features this year, Gómez highlighted the presentation of Core Mas’ porcelain belt buckle and the Raimond Weil watch that plays tribute to David Bowie. Attendees can also enjoy concerts from Band, Hula Hula, Michel Fadel, Álvaro Mur, Charlotte and Guitar Slide Show, a Flamenco flash mob and fashion shows from Ecaile and Abed Mahfouz.
